During August and early September, Grace Church members have decided to collect items for Cleaning Kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief Center near New Castle. This center has replaced the Mission Barn where relief kits were prepared and stored in the past. Since the past year’s many floods and disasters have depleted the supply of Cleaning Kits, there is a tremendous, immediate need for additional kits. Beginning Sunday, August 13, supplies will be collected weekly. Each Sunday, three specific items will be requested until we complete collecting the 15 items needed for each Cleaning Kit. Your response will determine the number of buckets we can fill.
This week worshipers are requested to bring the following three items: • One 32–64 oz. bottle liquid laundry detergent • One 16–40 oz. bottle liquid concentrate household cleaner (No sprayer cleaners) • One 16–34 oz. bottle liquid dish soap.
All of these items can be purchased in many locations, but we have learned in the past that the Dollar Tree in Cranberry has very reasonable prices for many of the items. No particular brand is needed, but the size of bottle must be within the range listed. Items and buckets may be placed on and along the altar in the sanctuary. Items and buckets will be moved as needed for prayer and communion. After all 15 items are collected, volunteers will sort and fill the buckets and deliver them to the UMCOR Center.
