Pastor Byron's Statement on Singing Hymns...
The CDC Announces a Change in No-Singing Guideline.
CNBC and other sources have reported that the CDC has deleted their guideline to places of worship not to sing. Checking the CDC guidelines online, I could not find a restriction to singing. However, it has been shown that singing and speaking loudly might spread C-19 carried in the moisture in our breath. The CDC continues to advise that places of worship could be particularly high risk for spreading C-19 if proper precautions are not observed.
For the present we are going to err on the side of caution. We will not be singing hymns until we receive clear guidance from the bishop’s office, or the CDC that it is safe.
I know for some this restriction seems unnecessary. However, we want to provide a safe place to gather. Some of our congregation fall into a more vulnerable category due to age or a pre-existing health condition. We want them and everyone else to both feel and be as secure as possible when attending worship. Please help us maintain a safe worship setting by following and supporting the restrictions in place, if not for yourself, then for others.
